Health Education England was the UK body responsible for planning, recruiting, educating and training the health and care workforce to ensure there were the right numbers of skilled professionals with the right values to deliver excellent patient care. In April 2023, HEE merged into NHS England’s Workforce, Training & Education Directorate, where its role continues — supporting healthcare education, workforce planning and training across England to strengthen the NHS workforce now and for the future.
